Project for Design Principles I studio, assigned to create a 1:5 scale model of a famous chair: chosen Eileen Gray's Transat Chair (1922). Designed specifically for Grey's vacation villa E-1027, the chair has a clear focus on comfort, as it signifies the duality of sleek engineering and relaxation. It played a big role in the cultural shift post World War I from the maximal ornamental styles, to minimalistic, sustainable asethetics. It is still reproduced, with its structures in natural beech wood, lacquered colors, or chrome tubular steel; offered in a wider variety of colorways. Inspired by the principal forms of the Transat Chair. The Transat Birdhouse is my personal design as a companion piece, designed specifically for the Eurasian Wren species that inhabits the location of E-1027 villa - the house adapts to the Wren's size and necesities, as well as preferences such as sleeping in corners.
